Presentation of the: Proceedings of the III International Conference Water in the Alps Trento October 3, 2011 colophon disclaimer Technical secretariat of the Alpine Water Conference 2010	Water management has an important role among Alpine Convention activities and represents one of the crucial factors for sustainable development within the whole Alpine region. The Conference was organized with the aim to continue the dialogue started in Innsbruck in 2006 and carried on in Monaco in 2008. The Conference created an opportunity for stakeholders that work on water-related issues in the Alpine space to meet and share knowledge and experiences. Moreover, the Conference represented a welcome occasion to share the results of the studies that the Water Platform performed up to that point. The Water Platform was created during the X Alpine Conference in order to sustain and facilitate the sharing and the elaboration of proposals on common interest regarding alpine issues. In particular, during the conference were presented the results of a survey performed on the River Basin Management Plans and aimed to verify the parallelism with specific alpine issues in the different Alpine Countries. The draft guidelines for the sustainable use of small hydropower plants were also discussed. The outcomes of the meeting were later integrated in the final version of these documents.
